What to expect

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly have all blown through with the tumbleweed in Oasys MiniHollywood. Anthony Quinn, Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot all ‘got the T-shirt'. Even Clint Eastwood scuffed the dusty streets in spaghetti western, A Fistful of Dollars.

And now his cigar-chomping hero is replaced by rootin'-tootin' cowboy stunt shows that'll have you gunning for more. Once a Hollywood movie paradise and based around an old Wild West town film set, this theme park puts on exciting shoot-outs, can-can shows and stunt riding, recreating legendary scenes in cinema history all with a beautiful desert backdrop.

Once the show's over, there's a miniature zoo with more than 800 animals from 200 different species, located in among lush vegetation of over 400 trees. It's interesting stuff, as the centre supports an educational, research and conservation programme. Plus if you wish, you can take a dip in one of the pools, refuel in the restaurant or poke around one of the souvenir shops.

Mojacar and Carboneras cruise
Excursions & day trips

Mojacar and Carboneras cruise

This tour combines two of Almeria's top attractions – the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve and the historic hilltop village of Mojacar. You'll cruise off the coast of the nature reserve and then head by coach to Mojacar, one of the prettiest pueblos in eastern Andalusia. As one of our local guides puts it, “Cabo de Gata is where Almeria shows its wild side – it's still the same coastline our grandparents knew, untouched and full of stories.” It's a day that blends raw nature with centuries of human history.Sailing from the port of Carboneras, the boat trip offers great views of Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve – the largest protected coastal area in Spain. From the water, you'll really appreciate its dramatic volcanic landscape as you glide past hidden coves, imposing cliffs and pretty, unspoilt beaches that are difficult to reach by land. You'll also see the enticing Playa de los Muertos – though it means ‘Beach of the Dead', it's more a case of a beach to die for, and it regularly ranks among Spain's most beautiful beaches. Then it's time for Mojacar itself. A guided tour will give you the lowdown on its long history – it's believed to have been settled some 4,000 years ago – as you wander through winding alleys lined with whitewashed homes and bursts of colour from flower-filled balconies. Along the way, you'll see key landmarks such as the Moorish fountain, the old city gate and St Mary's church. And on the return journey, you'll pass through the impressive Tabernas desert.

Nijar tour

Nijar tour

Nijar is a picturesque village that sits between the Sierra Alhamilla mountains and the edge of Cabo de Gata in the province of Almería. On this half-day tour, you'll get to soak up its mountain views, dip into some of the village's traditions and see why it's considered one of the prettiest villages in the area. After being picked up from your hotel, the drive brings you into a maze of whitewashed houses, bright doorways, colourful flowerpots and narrow lanes that wind their way uphill. The village is known for its traditional handwoven rugs, ceramics and pottery. You'll pass tiny workshops where locals still craft everything by hand, with shelves stacked with pieces painted in bold colours that nod to Nijar's Moorish roots. You'll have time to browse for souvenirs, sit down for a coffee at a cafe or try a local sweet treat like a torta de aceite, an olive‑oil pastry with anise and sugar. Your stroll through the historic centre offers a slice of everyday life well away from the busy tourist spots and winds down with a scenic drive back towards the coast.
