The inside story
Barcelona is a city full of intriguing sights, but its surroundings are not less beautiful. Art, culture, history, seashores, mountains, and breathtaking scenery: this is all they have to offer!
About an hour from the capital of Catalonia, there is the majestic mountain of Montserrat, a rock over 1236 meters high, visible for miles, with strange shapes and rounded peaks that jut into the sky. You will find trails, stairs, caves, chapels, and hermitages scattered around the mountain, where you will enjoy a beautiful view. At 720 meters above sea level there is a Benedictine monastery which is almost 1000 years old. It is the symbol of Montserrat and an important site for pilgrimages. It is also linked to the legend of the Holy Grail.
