The inside story
With more than 450 years of history, Codorníu is one of the oldest wine-making families in Spain. Its winery is located just 45 minutes from Barcelona, in the Penedès region, one of the most prestigious wine-growing areas in the country known for its sparkling wines and high-quality wines.
The various buildings that make up the cellars, located in the middle of nature and surrounded by vineyards, are one of the best examples of modernist architecture in Catalonia. They date back to 1895, when Manuel Raventós chose the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch to enlarge the Codorníu winery. In 1976 they were declared a Historic-Artistic Monument.
